What Porchlight stores in your browser, and why.
The short version
We use cookies and similar browser storage only for things the service needs and for light measurement of our public website. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising. See our Privacy Policy.
What we use
- Sign-in cookie (porchlight_session). Keeps you signed in. Required for the app to work.
- Company cookie (porchlight_company). Remembers which company you are working in if you belong to more than one. Required.
- Offline storage. The field app stores your schedule and visit records on your device, in the browser's database and a service worker cache, so it keeps working with no signal. Required for that feature.
- Website measurement. On our public pages (not in the signed-in app), our Marketing Hub script keeps a random visitor ID and the first campaign tag you arrived with in your browser's local storage, and a session ID in session storage. It uses these to count visits, see which articles lead to sign-ups and measure our marketing. It does not include your name, email or account ID.
- Payment forms. When you pay or add a card, Stripe loads its own scripts, which may set cookies or storage for fraud prevention and to run the payment form. Stripe's policies apply.
- Fonts. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the fonts load.
Your choices
You can clear or block cookies and site storage in your browser settings. If you block the required ones, you will not be able to sign in or use the app offline. You can block the measurement script with a content blocker, and the site will still work. Clearing your browser's site data resets the random visitor ID.
